About Ms. Miller

Biography:

Ms. Miller teaches a large and successful studio of private and classroom string students. She has been Concertmaster of the Leimert Park Symphony Orchestra, the UCI Theater Orchestra, the UCI Symphony Orchestra, and has given recitals in Europe, Asia, and North America.  She has played in additional orchestras including the Chautauqua, Santa Monica, and Henry Mancini Orchestras.

Ms. Miller enjoys teaching young and beginning students as well as in preparing more experienced students for further advancement and achievement. Having judged on panels and prepared her students for local music competitions, her students have held the positions of concertmaster, principal second, principal viola, and principal cello in their youth orchestras, as well as winning awards in local competitions and contests.

In addition to teaching and playing in orchestras, Ms. Miller has performed as soloist with the VCSO, Bellflower Symphony, and at the Granada Theater as a part of the Corwin Arlington Seminars in association with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.  She holds degrees in Violin Performance and Chinese Language Studies from UC Irvine.

Her own unique method is very distinct and has evolved over a period of many years.  She has taught at the Preschool, Elementary, Jr. and Sr. High School levels first as a team instructor, and later as a Master Teacher at Sea View Elementary and Anacapa Jr. High school among others.  Ms. Miller has continued to expand her strings program to include: a group violin system for students beginning as young as three years old, and a string orchestra system for students from 3rd through 12th grades.

Teaching Philosophy:

"As a music teacher it is my priority to build a strong foundation in technique from the youngest age.  I believe in the role of group classes to help younger students learn from one another and find inner inspiration from their peers.  With older students, I focus more on the individual; the student's characteristics as a potential artist, as well as broader goals in terms of his/her music education.  It is always my intent to encourage and foster motivation and inspiration in music students, so that they may find joy and fulfillment within the classical arts throughout their lives."
-Adrienne Miller, M.F.A. (expected 2020)
